Uplift East

Uplift East is a grassroots outreach movement founded by Isha Bel, dedicated to supporting vulnerable families in East Kingston and surrounding communities. Our work focuses on real care — education support, youth upliftment, assistance to the elderly, community development, and emergency relief. Since 2012, we’ve been quietly doing the work on the ground, driven by love, responsibility, and the calling to serve.

Help Us Restore Dignity. Help Us Rebuild Lives.

Hurricane Melissa devastated Western and Southern Jamaica — Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, St. James, Hanover, parts of Trelawny, and sections of Manchester.Homes were flattened. Entire farming districts were washed out. Rivers changed their course and swallowed houses.Three weeks later, many communities are still without water, power, or shelter.

The need is massive, and many of our brothers and sisters are falling between the cracks of the larger relief programs.

This is where Uplift East steps in — filling the gaps where help hasn’t reached yet.

Last week, we went on the ground and saw the scale of the disaster with our own eyes. The need is humongous. Families sleeping outside. Children without safe spaces. Farmers who lost everything — their tools, their seeds, their livelihood.

We cannot turn away.We cannot wait.We move in love, humility, and duty — now.

HURRICANE RELIEF MISSION

Hurricane Melissa struck with a force that reshaped entire communities across Western Jamaica. Homes were torn apart, crops wiped out, and families left in shock as roofs disappeared overnight. One month later, many are still living under tarpaulins, bathing in rivers, and trying to piece together the remains of their homes.

Uplift East, immediately mobilized three relief missions to support women, children, and the elderly in the worst-hit areas. What we witnessed has deepened our commitment to this cause.

SEEDS DRIVE

Uplift East has launched a Seed Drive to support farmers in Westmoreland and Trelawny as they rebuild after Hurricane Melissa. With rising food prices and widespread crop loss, we are collecting seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, and small farming supplies to help restore livelihoods and strengthen food security. We also encourage community members across Jamaica to plant, share, and exchange seeds so we can all do our part in rebuilding the nation—one garden, one farm, one harvest at a time.
